Poornima Kirby is an actress, writer, director and teacher based in Boston, Massachusetts.
With TEV, she has performed at Cultura Dello Spirito in Cabella, Italy, in a workshop production of her original poetic piece, Mystery Play. With TEV in America, she has co-written and performed in Lee and the Tallest Tree, A Map in the Dark and is currently co-directing a series of devised video-theatre places based on Kahlil Gibran’s beloved book, The Prophet. She also co-authored TEV’s forth-coming video-theatre production, Lucy and the Thoughts, in which she plays the role of Lucy.
Her selected regional performing credits include playing Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing, Hermione in The Winter’s Tale and Titania in Midsummer with Bay Colony Shakespeare Co.; Cecily in The Importance of Being Earnest with Moonbox Productions; Faustus in Dr. Faustus with Wax Wings; Rose in Blood Rose Rising with Honest Ghost; Juliet in Romeo & Juliet with ShakespeareNow; Mrs. De Winter in Sleep No More with A.R.T./Punchdrunk; and Aramintha in Daughter of Venus with Wellfleet Harbor Actor’s Theater. She has also appeared in a number of independent films, including The Walker and Justice, as well as numerous commercials and industrials. She trained at Shakespeare and Co. and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, and received her B.A. in Drama, with honors, from Vassar College.
